I am an editor and proofreader with more than ten years of experience in a variety of areas. My passion is editing copy that is aimed at making people’s lives better, whether it’s related to improving people’s health or their overall well-being.
Much of my editing has been focused on the health sciences, including university communications and publications at a health clinic. I’ve edited monthly newsletters, institutional brochures, fundraising letters, articles, website text, and blog posts. If you’re quoting research studies or talking about physical or psychological health, I have a lot of experience presenting those topics.
Outside of those areas, I enjoy editing nonfiction books, marketing materials, proposals, and correspondence. Regardless of what you’re writing, I’m up to date on best practices in grammar. I can answer your questions and ensure your writing adheres to the latest guidelines while maintaining a good flow, the right tone, and your original voice and ideas. Although I know the rules, I know when it’s time to make exceptions to rules and honor your unique personality on the page.
I have a BA in journalism and a certificate in technical writing and editing from the University of Washington.

My Core Services
Generally, the editing I do falls under the description of copyediting and proofreading. If you need a more extensive developmental edit that includes structural and organizational changes, I may be able to help with that, depending on the project. Please feel free to reach out.
Copyediting involves line-by-line editing for grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, flow, and voice. I may suggest alternate word choices and possible rewrites, but those are just suggestions for you to consider. You are the final judge. When you’ve incorporated my edits, the text will be ready to roll.
Proofreading involves addressing the picky details needed for a final polished and error-free piece of work. This will include catching any misspellings, punctuation mistakes, problems with layout, etc. Although proofreading is very detailed, it usually does not include any rewrites or fixes to sentence structure.
